An extravagant hat is not only fun to wear, but a lot of fun to make as well. It seems very complicated, but fortunately that is not that difficult. We have made Vogue V7464 model D which you can wear in several ways. Vogue V7464 The sewing pattern offers five hats that vary greatly from each other. The hats are based on the Vintage style that depicts the 1930s and 1940s. Hat A has a contrasting brim (which is difficult to see in the example photo). Model B has a special shape. Model C and D have flowers on it that you can make yourself and Model D and E are very large and can be worn in several ways. Recommended fabrics: Vogue's advice: you should use felt for Model A, B, D and E. For Model C you need taffeta silk. For the contrasting fabrics, net material is recommended, but also lace and tulle. You also need twill tape, decorative bands, cord and horsehair reinforcement. Model D. As shown in the pictures above, we made model D from gobelin fabric. This fabric is not mentioned in the sewing pattern describtion but is very well suited for the sewing project. The fabric is nice and sturdy, you can work with it nicely and you can 'knead' the hat into shape. Model D is made like an alpino cap. It is no more than two parts on top of each other and an inner tube. The hat is good and sturdy, but measure the inner edges extra carefully in advance. With a small piece of elastic you don't have that much stretch if it is still too tight or loose. Summarized;
The hat, Model D from Vogue V7464 is not a hat you will wear every day. The large shape makes it an eye-catcher, even if you would make the hat of inconspicuous fabric. But the hat is very suitable for special occasions. For hat-day, a wedding, a summer party or a gala. The advantage of the hat is that it does not completely crush your hair because the inside offers a lot of space. It is also a hat that emphasizes rather than hides your face. If you really want to stand out, this hat is the hat! The hat is easier to make than you initially expect. It also gives you insight into how hats are put together and the proportions of the pattern parts work. Comments are closed.
