Vogue V9334, perfect homewear!

15/2/2018

Picture
Vogue V9334 is a sewing pattern for a comfortable unlined jacket and pants. The jacket is very spacious, closes with a belt or a wrap and has two large pockets. The pants has an elastic band.

Vogue V9334
The Vogue sewing pattern belongs to the category: VERY EASY. We agree with this. This pattern is absolutely great for a beginner and has no difficulties. For a beginner, the collar will be a bit tricky, but the instructions on the sewing pattern are clear and visually easy to understand.

What about the fabric?
The recommended fabrics are: medium weight woolen fabrics, jeans and Ponte Knit. Crepe, garbadine and twill are recommended for the pants.
Please note: the mentioned fabrics are not stretchable or elastic fabrics! The sewing pattern is not suitable for stretch fabrics.

Our jacket:
We tried out the sewing pattern and used a woolen fabric. But fabrics with a design are not recommended because it is difficult to make them neatly fitting in terms of lines and pattern. But because this is a 'homewear' jacket, that is no problem for us. The fabric is wonderfully soft and the jacket is super comfortable. This is mainly because the collar fits nicely in the neck and is therefore nice and warm. This is in contrast to, for example, a bathrobe without a shawl collar, where the neck often feels a bit cold and open.

Summarized:

The Vogue V9334 is a great sewing pattern and we will undoubtedly use it again. The jacket is ideal homewear and you will wear it all winter long.
The sewingpattern is great for a beginner!

Burda 6705, elegant short jacket

1/2/2018

Picture
Burda 6705 is a sewing pattern for a short, fitted jacket and a knee-length skirt. The sewing pattern is ideal for a beautiful winter suit! But you can also transform the suit into an festive suit for a special occasion or the holidays.

Burda 6705
Burda's sewing pattern is a suit, with princess lines and two-piece sleeves. It is ideal for Bouclé, wool or wool-mix fabrics. It is not specifically a Chanel-style jacket, but we have ad some Chanel-details. The jacket closes with a zipper, something that you rarely see in the couture world or at the fashion house Chanel. But despite the zipper you can still turn it into a beautiful Chanel-style jacket by adding edges and emphasizing the pockets.

Recommended fabrics
The fabrics recommended for this sewing pattern are: Lightweight Wool, Tweed and Bouclé. You will also need a long zipper, shoulder pads and lining fabric.

Sewing level:
The recommended sewing level for this sewing pattern is: medium. So it means that you need some sewing experience to make this suit. This is mainly because of the zipper tidy and the fact that you work with smaller pieces of fabric. As mentioned, the sewing pattern has princess lines and the sleeves consist of two parts.

Picture
Pros:
  • A nice combination suit that can be very classic, but also modern or even businesslike.
  • The skirt has a perfect shape and is comfortable because the waistband is a bit higher, also ideal for hiding a belly ...
  • The 'pencil shape' of the skirt is elegant and you can adjust the length as you like.
  • The whole shape is beautiful and feminine.

Cons:
  • There is little (cup) space in the jacket in case you have larger breasts.
  • Choose the zipper carefully: this can make the difference in a couture look or a slightly 'cheap' look.
  • You can make the suit even better or personalize it by, for example, sewing four bags on it, instead of two or none.
  • It is also advisable to have the cup size adjusted by someone who is good in adjusting patterns.

Even more fabric options: the suit would also be very nice made with jacquard or brocade fabrics. Opt for luxurious fabrics and a matching zipper. The jacket and skirt immediately have the perfect look for the holidays!

Picture
Summarized:
Burda 6705 is a great sewing pattern for a timelessly chic jacket and skirt. If you can adjust the cup size, if necessary, the outfit is very flattering and fits perfectly. You can also vary with many types of fabrics and make something really festive!
