Janome has launched a new Cover lock machine; the 3000 professional. Our findings:

Delivery: The product is delivered within 24 hours of ordering.
Packaging: Box (12 kg.) 54 x 40 x 46 cm.

Unpacking and first impression: The coverlock machine is firmly packed with a lot of styrofoam. It must be almost impossible to receive a damaged product. This will in any case not be due to the care of the packaging.

The coverlock machine looks very professional because of the silver color and the heavy appearance. The machine is super sturdy on the table.

Review:

1. The cover and manual:
The supplied cover is a good plastic cover of heavy material. Not really very pretty, but functional and sober.
The manual is supplied in several languages and fortunately is not composed in terms of languages. The manual is in A4 format. The letters are normal in size and the drawings are clear. The manual contains 46 pages. In half an hour you have read the manual completely. With an average manual of an average device you will not do quickly...

2. Lighting The LED lighting is very nice. You can slide the top part of the hood forward for extra lighting.

3. Threading
Threading is easier manageable than threading a serger or lockmachine. The threading process is explained step-by-step in the manual and the drawings are clear. The coverlock machine itself uses color codes. This is always useful. Threading the lower looper is very easy, while this is usually the most difficult. Threading the threads through the needle can be done with an integrated needle threader.

4. Cover-locking!
The coverlock machine has a lot of space in the middle. This allows you to easily sew a centerline of a garment without having to stuff the fabric between the sewing machine. In terms of thickness of the fabrics, the machine can handle a lot. It has to be because with many stitches the fabrics are finally folded in half to create a nice edge. Stitch length can be easily adjusted from 1 to 4 mm.
The differential can also be adjusted. You can even do this while coverlocking (with your right hand) so that you don't have to move the fabric and a nice transition is made in terms of stitch variation. If you stop at the end of the fabric, or even half way through, you can easily pull the threads forward first and then lay them back through the thread cutter attached to the machine. Make sure you have enough length, so you can finish the wires neatly.

The machine has a pleasant sound and it is striking that the volume is very low. This is due to a ball bearing that significantly reduces the vibration.

The free-arm option is IDEAL! The free-arm option makes sewing couture a lot easier because you can work more precisely.

To test the machine, we made the sweater from the McCalls 7486 sewing pattern in a diamond jersey stretch fabric. The coverlocker could easily handle four layers of fabric. it was a pleasure to coverlock the raglan sleeves and they now look beautiful both inside and out. We also covered the pocket on the front and the bottom with a coverstitch. We sewed the hood together in the middle with two coverstitches. this creates a row of neat stitches in six widths. Of course you can also do this with four stitches if you think 2 x 3 is too much of a good thing.

The cover locker also saved us quite a bit of time. Instead of sewing the pieces together and finishing with the serger, we now did everything in one go! Both sewing and finishing.

5. Extras:
If you like to quilt or are used to working with an extension table of the sewing machine, the extension table for the Janome is recommended. This extension table is spacious, stable and ensures that the fabric lies well. We have tried this extension table and see it as an essential part.

Two extra feet stand out in terms of accessories:

The 'clear view cover stitch foot' or transparent presser foot, has a transparent top. This is especially ideal if, for example, you are sewing a white t-shirt with white thread. Extra good visibility is then pleasant. It is also pleasant to watch closely during decorative stitches. There are handy markings on the presser foot, so you can work very precisely and also ensure that the start and end of the stitch placement are accurate.

The 'elastic gathering attachment foot' or elastic guide is ideal if you make lingerie or small children's clothing, for example. The elastic will stay in place better and come straighter in or on the fabric. Moreover, it simply works more pleasantly and makes this particular job an easy job!

Both feet and the extension table are in one package.

Maintenance:
You don't have to do much with this coverlock machine. The manual contains tips for maintenance and troubleshooting in case of problems. There are also a few links on the supplier's website with tips for maintenance.

Parts are also always available: https://www.naaimachine-materialen.eu/ You can also easily find lost manuals by downloading them. These manuals can also be found per brand and type on the above link.

Summarized:
Coverlock Janome CoverPro 3000 is a professional coverlock machine that is an excellent addition if you like working with stretchy fabrics. The coverlock machine is also suitable for the experienced seamstress, the machine offers many possibilities to apply specific techniques. The elastic guide is ideal if, for example, you are sewing lingerie.
The free-arm option is ideal for working with.

Threading the threads is not difficult. If you use a coverlock machine in addition to a serger and a sewing machine, you are now able to make really beautiful clothes and finish them professionally.
