Marfy 1756 free Pdf pattern

11/7/2021

Picture
Marfy Italy offers a free PDF sewing pattern to download yourself. It's a sewing pattern to make a Chanel-Style jacket and a matching skirt! We are very happy with the sewing pattern and also pleased that it is a typical classic jacket: elegant, with many 'Chanel' details and a matching skirt. In our opinion, the jacket is the pinnacle of elegance and class. As all the other the sewing patterns of Marfy's DIY fashion!

Free Sewing Pattern Marfy 1756

Fabrics and description:

Fabric required: about mt. 2.00 wide 1.40.

Free sewing patterns to download available in sizes 42 to 58.

This short, tight-fitting jacket closes edge-to-edge with hooks. It has a shirt collar and pockets with flaps sealed with a button. Suggested fabric: tweed, bouclè, cool wool or denim with edge covered with trim or leather.

It can be combined with the skirt 0757 and the top 1913.

Styling tips from Marfy:
As mentioned in its description, the French jacket can be made in the classic bouclé used by the great Coco Chanel. Fashionable colours now are pink, bright electric blue, emerald green. Once you pick your favorite, you could add trimming on the borders of various kind, from gathered tulle with pearls (very romantic with pink fabric) to sparkling Swarovski strass or stones (even big ones...), which would look fabulous tone-on-tone (same colour) for emerald and blue fabrics, but could be fine also black or classic strass.

Same strass/stones would be great also on denim fabric, and this would definitely be the youngest version of the jacket...even better if it's a stone washed and very used denim, the contrast with the elegant strass and vintage sporty fabric would give a new feel to this ever classic pattern.
As for the sewing finishing, it can be made the classic way or with row cut, which is now returning and it adds more trendy elements...
Fantasy flowers are back, and in this case we could add them inside the jacket with a multi-coloured lining which would attract as much as the outside part of the jacket.

Our (short) review:

PLEASE NOTICE:

Marfy sewing patterns are NOT EASY ! You need to be an advanced seamstress to work with the pattern.
You also need to know how PDF patterns work; how to attach the pages all together to construct the sewing pattern in total.

BE SURE ABOUT YOUR SIZE!
Marfy patterns are mentioned in Italian clothing sizes: be aware about the complete different figures compared to EU or UK sizes.

The skirt provided great movement and is very nice to wear.

The collar is a quite different collar than the original Chanel-jacket. It looks very nice and comfortable though.

Summarized:
This jacket is a fantastic good shaped, very classic Chanel-jacket. It is a great sewing pattern if you know how it works! It would be wonderful to quilt the jacket and lining together according Claire Shaeffer's (and Chanel's own couture) sewing techniques. This pattern is good enough to do so.

If you do not like the collar; remove it from the pattern. If you are an advanced seamstress, it could be possible to change the pattern.
