But there is a different between Basic Sewing Techniques and Couture Sewing Techniques. Best explained if you start from the beginning.  A client is ordering a special garment for an event or gala. If she goes to a Couture House,  a long and very personal process starts.  The client's sizes will be measured and there will be an exchange of ideas, prices and possibilities. A sample will be made to fit each customer individually.
After that, the real piece of couture will be made. Lots of hand sewing will be involved and sewing techniques like bound button-holes, dart-easing, and all requirements that needs to be done to get a perfect fit. Apart from the work-hours, it will also be very costly because the best fabrics will be used and notions.

If a person just wants to buy a great garment in a store, or a special shop, all these fittings and hand-sewing on clothes are not important.  Clothes are mass-production, even if it is quality or cheap.
In mass-production everything will be made to save time, costs and everything is made for standard-sizes.

Haute Couture is high-end fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high-quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished by the most experienced and capable sewers, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.

Couture translates literally from French as "dressmaking" but may also refer to fashion, sewing, or hand sewing ( needlework) and is also used as a common abbreviation of Haute Couture and refers to the same thing in spirit.

Haute translates literally to "high". A Haute Couture garment is often made for a client, tailored specifically for the wearer's measurements and body stance. Considering the amount of time, money, and skill allotted to each completed piece, Haute Couture garments are also described as having no price tag: budget is not relevant.
