Chanel with a horse, or better Stella?

Last year, the fashion house CHANEL opened its fashion show with Charlotte Casiraghi, Prince Albert of Monaco's niece, riding her horse down the catwalk. Charlotte is a dressage rider and an ambassador for the fashion house. This playful action led to a lot of criticism because the animal welfare organizations said that a horse does not belong on the catwalk.

A few days ago, Stella McCarthy, fashion designer, vegan and animal lover par excellence, decided to do it completely differently. Horse-friendly and with a fashion message:

Don't take the horse to the catwalk,
take the catwalk to the horses!

Stella McCartney, a prominent animal rights campaigner, has opened her winter show with seven dappled grey horses. She drove home her leather-free fashion message by sending the horses to canter alongside models wearing styles crafted from new, eco-conscious materials.
