Butterick B6738 Summer Chanel-style outfit!

We couldn't be happier! A few weeks ago we found a Cotton woven cobalt fabric at Driessenstoffen and we were immediatly in love. (We call the fabric: cotton Bouclé.) In the middle of winter, we started making a summery Chanel-style outfit and used Butterick B6738 as a sewing pattern.

Our summer outfit is a skirt and a jacket. We also have made a bag ourselves.

Butterick B6738
Butterick B6738 is a sewing pattern for a complete wardrobe. It consists of a jacket, a dress, top, skirt, and pants. The jacket has an open front that closes by wearing the front panels slightly over each other. We added the belt ourselves because it is sometimes nice if the loose front panels can also close. There is no collar on the jacket, but the front panels open outwards.

Sewing level
The sewing level on the sewing pattern is 'average'. This means that a seamstress with average sewing experience can easily make this jacket. It is not difficult, there are no special sewing techniques in the garments. But the sewing pattern is certainly not suitable for the beginner, mainly because of the blind zippers that are in the pants, top, skirt and dress.

However, the jacket is not difficult to make. We think a beginner can handle this. The jacket consists of only a few pattern pieces and has no collar, cuffs or pockets. The only tricky part will probably be putting the lining in it. With a little help from someone with sewing experience, this should work out!

Summarized:

The cotton Bouclé fabric is a perfect fabric to make this jacket. The fabric is nice to work with, cheap and a real eye-catcher. You can also make beautiful fringes of the fabric to underline the Chanel-style look.

Butterick B6738 is a very complete sewing pattern: jacket, skirt, top, dress and pants. The jacket is an easy sewing pattern;  a beginner should be able sewing the jacket (in our opinion).
