Burda 6828: Summer love!

Longing for the summer? Most of you will answer "Yesssss". For a moment the summer seemed close again, but in recent days the summer seems very far away. How can you create a summer feeling and make the longing for the sun especially very positive?

You can already start making a beautiful summer dress! Who knows, maybe we will be in the sun in a few weeks and you will already have something new at hand. The dress we made is the sewing pattern 6829 from Burda. A tight dress that has a slimming effect due to the pleats on and above the stomach.

And another good argument: the fabrics that are now offered in the online fabric stores are too beautiful not to buy. As an example in this blog we mention the fabrics 'By Lisan' that are sold by Driessenstoffen. Beautiful cotton and cotton jersey fabrics which will make you very happy. You can also make the sewing pattern with stretch velvet, jersey fabric, thinner jogging fabric and Bengaline (note the stretch direction!)

But such a summery floral print as the fabrics 'By Lisan' are the most beautiful for the summer!

Burda 6829
The Burda 6829 sewing pattern is easy if you have worked with stretch fabrics before. If not, get help if you can't quite figure it out. In any case, it is important that you use a stretch stitch and attach a stretch needle to your sewing machine.
And you will have to reinforce the interfacings with a non-woven fabric in advance. Otherwise the fabric will stretch too much and it will become a mess at the neckline. We manually hemmed the bottom of the dress. This is often more beautiful with stretch fabrics. An extra job, but the result will be satisfactory.

Easy peasy
Burda indicates a beginner will easily make this sewing pattern by including this sewing pattern in the category: 'leicht', 'easy' and 'facile'. Behind easy are two dots. This means it is an easy sewing pattern but not super easy either.
As we said, it is mostly fine for a beginner to make, but be aware that stretch fabrics often require more patience to sew than non-stretch fabrics.

There are no further difficulties in this sewing pattern.

Tip: If you gather the side of the front piece a bit more, this will pull the skirt up and the bottom will become quite narrow. This looks glamorous, but we have chosen to slightly reduce wrinkles. You can see from the photo of our dress:  the bottom is slightly wider and therefore easier to move. We are talking about 2 cm at the most. No more! Because otherwise the shape will disappear from the sewing pattern.

Burda 6289 is an easy sewing pattern for a very glamorous tight jersey dress. The sewing pattern is easy and there are no problems.

The summery fabric from 'by Lisan' sold by Driessenstoffen is a lovely cotton jersey that turned out to be perfect for the dress.
