A perfect stretch-blouse: It's Afits 1111

16/7/2021

We were not yet familiar with the sewing pattern brand: It's Afits. Time to get acquainted and test a sewing pattern! At sewingpatterns.nl we bought a pattern for a stretch blouse. And at Driessenstoffen we bought a matching fabric. A lovely stretch blouse is the result and enthusiasm for the It's Afits brand!
It's Afits Sewing Patterns
It's Afits is a sewing pattern brand, made in the Netherlands. You can find all the information about this on the
Abacadabra-itsafits website. The sewing patterns are for sale at sewingpatterns.nl.

The maker of It's Afits sewing patterns started designing sewing patterns for children in 2002. She combined this with her work in the clothing industry and also designed sewing patterns under the name: ABACADABRA. The sewing patterns expanded for ladies and for consumers.
In 2007 it's Afits became a real company with the vision: fashionable, easy-to-make models for women.
The sewing patterns have now been expanded with sizes up to and including 56 and since 2016 sewing patterns for men's fashion have also been available.

The sewing patterns are solid and well-founded. Slightly less attention is paid to the design and photos. We do not notice expensive models or slick layouts. This may be a pity for the appearance of the brand, but it is also an advantage that the sewing patterns are affordable. Most seamstresses do appreciate this idea.

We chose sewing pattern 1111. On the front page are 5 items of clothing, beautifully drawn. The sewing patterns website shows many examples of the garments in the form of unpretentious photos. Great!  Letś start.

Fabric advice and thé stretch fabric!
The fabric recommendation for this blouse, Model B or 2 of the sewing pattern is: cotton/lycra, jersey, viscose/lycra. We understand jersey, cotton, visoce and lycra well. But we find the combination cotton/lycra or viscose/lycra a bit strange. Lycra is the well-known super stretch fabric that is used for swimwear or gym wear. The combination with cotton or viscose is unknown to us.

It is clear, however, that this means that we need a stretch fabric, and we soon found that at Driessenstoffen: click here for the fabric. The fabric feels great, has an average stretch factor and has fresh summer colours. We recommend washing the fabric beforehand.

Sewing and cutting:
The blouse is not difficult to make and the instructions are clearly on an A-5 paper that you can fold open.
Note: we did a quick search for the seam allowance but only found it halfway through the GENERAL chapter. The pattern needs 2 inches seam allowance and 4 inches for the hems. So the pattern DOES NOT INCLUDE seam allowance!

The instructions are available in the following languages: Dutch, German and English.

The sewing pattern is for sizes 36 to 52.

The sewing pattern actually has two models. Model A, a closed dress and blouse and Model B, a blouse and shirt dress. Make sure you copy the correct pattern parts on paper. So this is not an instant cut-out sewing pattern because you first have to copy the pattern parts onto translucent paper.

A lovely stretch blouse!
The sewing pattern is easy to make. We do, however, advise extra to take into account that it is a stretch story. So use a stretch needle and pay close attention when inserting the collar. The buttonholes can also bubble, but you can prevent this by treating the facing with thin fleece.

The cuffs are not missing, but we skipped it because we just bought too little fabric. Our photo doesn't quite match the sewing pattern in that sense. But we are very pleased with the blouse and it fits great!

Summarized;
It's Afits sewing pattern 1111 was excellent and we will definitely make a few more times. Stretch blouses are always nice and the sewing patterns for them are not easy to find.

We found the sewing pattern from itś Afits wonderfully no-nonsense and nice that it is not that expensive. In addition, another 5 pieces of clothing! In that sense it is really very beneficial.

The fit of the blouse was excellent. This certainly invites us to buy sewing patterns from It's Afits more often!
