The Beige Bouclé Jacket
The beige jacket is a real classic and one of our first famous projects. The jacket got a lot of attention and reactions. The beige is a great colour for a jacket to combine with jeans and create a casual style. But the same jacket could be easily a total different piece of fashion combined with a black skirt or pants. A beautiful business look without being too fashionable or informal. The business look created with a beige Chanel-style jacket is simply a very good choice because of the setting in which most people are wearing black or white suits, or light blue based colours combined with dark-blue formal clothes. And do not forget about the setting; most office environments are not exactly dark, cosy or warmth in terms of mood and light. Beige will make a woman look warmth but not over-the-top striking or sexy.
Beige is a warmth color and therefore also beloved at the Chanel Collections. There are lots of Chanel and Chanel-Style jackets out there and very recognizable as Chanel Couture. The jacket are plains beige with beige buttons and fringes and lining as well, or combined with radiant contrasts finishings. Beige is a very natural color, it is associated with a perfect flawless skin tone. Because of its natural appearance, beige is also associated with health and youth. Beige is beloved by the Couture world and even more by the Make-up world. Chanel even has a total line based on the foundations and powers, called: Les Beiges Chanel. Make-up foundation, power, blushers and even eye-shadows are Les Beiges products and all based on the philosophy.
Back to Couture. In general Beige is a difficult color for couture. Beige might look a bit gradual and give it an old look. It also tends to look like an off-white color or a light-brown color that is too light. A lot of beautiful beige vintage couture will have been misjudged over the years because the color is not realistic and on photo it very easily gives a totally different picture than reality.
Old times and modern times; a total beige look was considered very chic and sophisticated. Women who could wear beige without looking like they would fade away, were considered as lucky models. Beige in Vintage Couture world still looks very soft, delicate and sophisticated. Today we mostly see the color return in Spring Collections (Chanel Spring 2016 !).
Beige is more likely to be the second color of the season when it is when combined with main colors such as brown, blue or red.
Last but not least: The Khaki pants has become classics and the women’s pencil skirt and are a good choice for styling chanel-style jackets. Casual, formal or classic: it is a timeless combination and always beautiful.
