Couture Techniques, The Home Sewing Guide to Creating Designer Looks
The book guides the reader through the processes of creating designer quality clothes by graduating from basic sewing techniques. This book is not aimed at beginners to making clothing and the reader will need some degree of experience. Instructions include laying out fabric, pattern adjustment and useful shaping and couture techniques that include inserting invisible fasteners and handwork.
This illustrated sewing guide takes readers through the characteristics that separate basic sewing from couture such as a custom fit, meticulous handwork, and quality construction. Learn how to create one-of-a-kind fashions that have shape, strength, and beauty.

The book is a great gift for seamstress. It is stylish, sophisticated and has beautiful photographs.
It is a feast for the eyes, has many open spaces and exudes peace and atmosphere even if the information about the sewing-techniques is not that simple..... Full of clear drawings (especially Chapter 3). |
A useful book? The beautiful front and title promise more than they deliver.
Chapter 3 about Sewing Techniques should have been all and even containing more details. Chapter 1 "Prenimum fabrics" and Chapter 2 "Getting the right fit" are a bit too hasty and unfounded. |
NOTES:
This book is very beautiful. On the introduction page, is starts with: "The world of Haute Couture is a glamorous one, and a spectaculary artifical one in many ways"....
Perhaps the book is that too. Beautiful and glamorous. But do not expect much revealing secrets and special knowledge of Couture (techniques).
To the publisher: Please replace the photograph on page 143 possible next issues. It has little to do with the subject, the dress does not fit and it is more of a glamour photo for a men's calendar. The other photos that introduce the chapters or sewing techniques are all very beautiful and tasteful.
