The Story Behind the Chanel-Style Jacket

Once, there was a seamstress — Marga — who dreamed of owning a classic Chanel jacket. A beautifully tailored bouclé jacket with gold buttons, perfect shaping, and refined trims. But with waiting lists and prices starting around $10,000, that dream remained out of reach.
So she gathered all available information:
  • sewing patterns suitable for a Chanel-style silhouette
  • couture techniques
  • fabric knowledge
  • and the books of Claire Shaeffer

After months of experimenting with patterns, fabrics, and methods, the first true Chanel-style jacket was finally created. And with that success came a new idea:

“Why not share this knowledge with others?”

And so this website was born — a place for everyone who loves couture craftsmanship and wants to create beauty with their own hands.

One Website, Two Blogs: Dutch & English

We proudly maintain both a Dutch and an English blog. Most articles appear in both languages, although the Dutch blog contains additional topics such as cosplay, L.A.R.P., and fantasy costumes.
Our English may not be bloody perfect, but it is written with love and care — and we hope it serves you well.

Sustainability & Conscious Fashion

We believe deeply in conscious sewing.
On this website, you will find extensive articles about:
  • sustainable fabrics
  • zero-waste and low-waste sewing
  • using fabric leftovers wisely
  • recycling, upcycling & circular fashion
  • the meaning of “deadstock”
  • second-hand shopping & vintage stores
  • innovative developments in sustainable fashion

Browse the categories Duurzaam & Bewust (NL) or Sustainable Ideas (EN).

Cosplay, LARP & Fantasy Costuming

These creative worlds are also fully represented on our website.
You will find them under COSPLAY & LARP, and in Dutch under LARP & Cosplay.
Make a cosplay costume for your child, a gothic dress for a friend, a Victorian ensemble for a grand event, or a medieval corset to celebrate your waistline.
If we can make it, you can too.

About us

The website is written in the first-person plural.
Not because Marga has multiple personalities, but because several people contribute behind the scenes — writers, testers, advisors, and guest bloggers.
I = we, and we = you and I.
The reader is just as important as the writer.
This website exists thanks to everyone who contributes with knowledge, passion, and creativity.

Stay inspired!

Visit the Blog Page regularly to see our newest articles — by us, by guest writers, by YouTube creators, and by all who share our love for sewing and couture.
If you have ideas, suggestions, reviews, or a guest article you would like to contribute, feel free to reach out.
We are here to share enthusiasm for sustainable sewing, craftsmanship, and the beauty of self-made couture.
