The Shirtmaking Workbook: Pattern, Design, and Construction Resources
Here is the definitive resource on the fine art of making shirts. Author David Page Coffin shows how to create elegant, custom-fit garments for a woman or a man that have a great tailored look and fit perfectly. And, even more important, once you learn to make and fit a shirt -- whether you have sewn for weeks or years -- your sewing skills will be dramatically improved.
David shares the construction secrets of garments from the world's finest shirtmakers. Discover how to duplicate and even improve on these garments, using simple tools and techniques any sewer can acquire. Includes 15 pages of fill-sized patterns for collars, plackets, cuffs, and pockets.
Why are we reviewing this book on our "Chanel Couture Jackets and Skirts Community" even it is mostly about making shirts? Well, couture techniques are very well explained and the photographs are clear and very helpful. This book is an excellent addition to our couture techniques library or collection.

Fantastic garment-details photographs !
Lots of informations and instructions. Good images to illustrate instructions. (Photographs combined with notes) Advanced sewing techniques explained, some basics as well. Working with this book would be an excellent guarantee to get the collar-techniques (finally?) done. |
A shirtmaking workbook is mostly about making shirts or better saying: collars....
Only in "Featured Technique" and "Featured Garments" a few more fabrics are explained as fleece, canvas and heavier cottons. |
NOTES:
The Shirtmaking Workbook is a nice addition to our library and a helpful resource if needed.
The perfect white collars on the front-page would be the very best to fit our collection of Chanel jackets and Classic Couture outfits. So learn how to sew them will be a challenge and a rewarding addition to our wardrobe.
