When you make Chanel-style jackets, you often have leftover fabric. In my blogs, I often repeat: buy more than the sewing pattern specifies. This is to avoid running out of fabric, for example, after a mistake, or because you'd like to avoid fraying, which often means an extra half meter of fabric. But what do you do with the leftover fabric? You can make so many things with it, including this artistic pillow, for example. For Sale (in Europe): How did I make this pillow? I don't really know. It was purely a matter of feeling and what scraps of fabric I had left over. The base is six scraps of boucle fabric and one large one for the back of a pillow. And then: crafting with felt, jewelry, buttons, and various sewing stitches. Bouclé isn't the easiest fabric for this kind of project, which makes it an extra challenge. The chains and the brim around the hat were found together. The braided chain came from a bag, the jewelry from a pearl necklace, and I had leftover buttons. Tip for those who also like to use scraps of boucle fabric: 1. Iron the back of the fabric with fusible interfacing first. This will prevent the woven fabric from unraveling and makes it easier to work with. 2. Don't work with very loose, flowing boucle fabric; that's simply not feasible. 3. If you pull the Bouclé threads lengthwise, you can create beautiful braids that look great on both jackets and scrap fabrics. Finally: be patient! Comments are closed.
