 If anyone asks me what I've been doing over the past few days, my honest answer would be:
Trying not to evaporate. It has been unbelievably hot here. The kind of heat that makes you question every life choice that involves moving more than three steps. Now, for most people, it's simply uncomfortable. For me, as someone living with a heart condition, extreme heat is something I have to take very seriously. For this month’s BERNINA accessory, I decided to initiate a creative collaboration project with Paula Kuitenbrouwer. Together we run the webshop HandmadeLuxuryHome.eu, where we share our passion for handcrafted home accessories.
Because we complement each other creatively so well, I asked Paula to design a cushion entirely according to her own vision. It was then my task to bring this design to life using the knitting foot, this month’s featured accessory. In this way, a unique cushion was created with a minimalist, artistic appearance and a character entirely of its own. We know Claire Shaeffer from the books: The Couture Cardigan Jacket, Making Designers Trims and The Couture Skirt. In her books she describes how Coco Chanel designed her famous Chanel jacket, the faux-wrap skirt and other classics. The sewing pattern V9250 is an example of a classic Chanel jacket and completely focused on the couture sewing techniques.
 For my webshops, HandmadeLuxuryHome and HistoriqueCouture, I regularly need product photos. Since I can’t afford to hire a photographer or models, I do everything myself. What do you need? Surprisingly little these days. With a good eye for photography and the help of AI, you can achieve a lot--as long as you give the right prompts and pay close attention to detail.
